Background
Biohit develops, manufactures and markets liquid handling products and accessories as well as diagnostic test systems for use in research, healthcare and industrial laboratories.
Headquartered in Finland, Biohit is a public company with branches in France, Germany, Japan, Russia, the UK and the USA, as well as production plants in China.
Project Brief
The complex brief called for a series of new websites and marketing campaigns to continue Biohit's growth as one of the worlds leaders in their field.:
- In order to increase market share within the global pipette market, Biohit required a dedicated website to further awareness of the products and services provided. This website needed to detail the full range of products available, as well as provide online technical support and software backup for the network of Genex dealers.
- A major strategic move for Biohit was the decision to enter the diagnostic market. A central part of this move was to develop and partner with high street pharmacies to sell and carry out the tests available. To support this move, a complex website was required to promote the products and attract distributors, as well as allowing members of the public to buy tests online and schedule an appointment with their nearest participating pharmacy to carry out the test.
A key aspect of this project was for members of the Biohit team (operating in different locations) to be able to track appointments, add new pharmacies and add new products remotely via a secure, web-based interface.
- The final phase of the project was to create a series of dedicated product mini-sites, promoting the tests available and optimising them to achieve prominent positions on the search engines when potential customers searched for tests relating to various symptoms - such as indigestion.
The Outcome
The Genex website (www.genexlab.co.uk) was launched in 2006 and has been successful in generating leads from potential pipette customers from all over the world. In addition to playing a central role in identifying and targeting new customers, the website has also proven to be a useful resource for existing customers providing an easily accessible reference point for new products, technical support and software updates.
The Gastroprofile website (www.gastroprofile.com) was launched in 2007 and has successfully met each of the objectives outlined in the brief. Within a short period, Biohit successfully secured the support of one of the UK's largest pharmacy chains who now have their network of pharmacies taking appointment bookings through the site. The site has also been featured in a European medical journal further increasing awareness of Biohit's entry into the diagnostic market.
A recent addition to the Biohit portfolio of websites include a dedicated mini-site providing information relating to 'Gastroview' - a test that can be taken to identify potential stomach problems.
